Meaning: The media, often influence reality with the messages it presents in visual, digital and print medium formats; all different forms of communication and interpretation. There are two sides of the same story, which may differ in personal opinions and facts; along with social and political agendas.

Media Reaction on the election of Donald Trump

Within the media, there were many different perspectives on the newspapers reaction to Donald Trump being elected president of the United States. Some believed it was devastating for the USA, from newspapers like the Daily Mirror; while others maintained a neutral response to the election, expressing a focus on the oncoming challenges the US would take with Trump as president. The time of the election brought out a huge spark in the media industry, among many whom expressed concern and worry for Donald Trump running for president; thus there was a divide in peoples support, and the variety of local and international newspapers that follow their own view of Donald Trump as a candidate, went through in mediating the public's opinion of Donald Trump's ability to run the country.

Stereotypes
Richard Dyer - He said that in the role of stereotypes that the complexity and diversity of a group of individuals is reduced by limited characteristics. Certain stereotypes often portray a social group within the media in an exaggerated fashion. In several media formats, characters are often given traits in regards to the social groups they belong in that is not entirely true to real people. They follow cliches of different social representations.

Male Gaze
Laura Mulvey - The male gaze relates to the objectification of women in films. In particular to the way women are portrayed in regards to the cinematography, the costumes they wear and how the male audience views them.

Decoding - Open or Closed Text
Roland Bathes - There are multiple ways to interpret texts within medium formats; in regards to the message they try to tell. Mediums often detail polysemy for open texts, while some things lack any polysemy and don't leave any speculation for the audience, tending to construct a view for the people.

Open Text - The Mist: A movie that sets a question for the audience that leads them to question the nature of it all, be it the monsters or human characters; how desperate they become in a time of crisis.

Closed Text - Avengers: Infinity War Trailer - A trailer to promote the upcoming movie that directly tells the audience on what the plot of the film is.

Uses and Gratifications Model

Bulmer and Katz - An audience can decided what type of media they wish to view for their own purpose. People may be not be conditioned to like something the media puts out for them to view, listen and read.
